Born and raised in Bed- Stuy, Laryssa Green is a graduate of New York University, where she earned a Baccalaureate of the Arts in Psychology. She has done extensive work with children as a 1st grade student teacher at P.S. 11K and at the Betty Ked Preparatory School in Tema, Ghana, West Africa. She has also held the role of teacher in her own personal tutoring and test preparation service and as the founder of the Porcelain Dolls Girls Club, a mentoring group that she has created for young girls in the Bedford Stuyvesant community. In this capacity, Laryssa is able to express her passion for the development and empowerment of young women. In addition to teaching and mentoring, Laryssa served as an intern at Concord Senior Nursing Home as assistant to the Occupational Therapist Assistant. It was during this experience Laryssa developed a greater understanding of the needs of seniors aging in urban communities. Laryssa has also been active in various food and health initiative with the Brooklyn Rescue Mission, and served as the agency’s youth spokesperson and presenter at the Tucson, Arizona conference.
