Community Empowerment Expo: “Tools for Surviving the Recession”
EVENT: Brooklyn, NY—On Saturday, February 21 beginning at 9:30 AM, the Coalition for the Improvement of Bedford-Stuyvesant (CIBS) will hold a press conference and symposium at the First AME Zion Church at 54 McDonough Street and Tompkins Avenue in Brooklyn, NY to highlight the collaborative efforts of local organizations to assist local residents in gaining the financial tools and services needed to deal with the financial crisis that is griping the nation. The symposium will place special emphasis on assisting residents who are dealing with heavy debt burdens including mortgage foreclosure.
A panel discussion will begin at 10 AM. Following the panel residents are invited to talk with local organizations offering services in the following areas: Foreclosure Prevention, Home Owner Services, Financial Education Services, Tax Liens, Tax Prep, Job Development and Social Services.
David Ushery, Anchor; WNBC 4 New York will moderate the Symposium. Elected officials who will be in attendance are Assemblywoman Annette Robinson, Councilman Albert Vann. Representatives of state and city government will also be in attendance.
